Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Explained
Inside each of your teeth is a pulp chamber with blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue that help the roots of your teeth grow. Sometimes this pulp chamber can get infected and painful. At this point, it becomes necessary to remove the infection to prevent tooth loss and further damages. This procedure is referred to as a root canal treatment, or endodontic therapy, and is performed routinely by dentists. It is a safe, quick, and effective way to help save and restore your teeth.

Root Canal Symptoms
Symptoms that indicate you need a root canal include:
- Pain with chewing or biting
- Teeth sensitivity
- Bad breath
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swollen face
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you probably have an abscessed tooth. This infection can spread if left untreated and can result in tooth loss. Don’t let it get that far and reach out to us as soon as possible.
What to Expect
We take your X-ray to determine whether there are any signs of infection. Based on what we see, we will then use local anesthesia to numb the area near the tooth to make you more comfortable. Once the anesthesia has kicked in, we will drill a small hole in your tooth to remove the infection and related debris.
After we finish cleaning, we usually seal the tooth right away unless there is still some infection. If there is, we wait about a week and place a temporary filling till your next appointment. To seal the tooth, we add a crown to protect it from further damage.
