I am honored to be in a position of trust with the public and feel it is my duty always to protect and nurture that relationship with my patients. My goal is to meet each person’s specific dental needs and exceed expectations at every turn. Being a dentist is a unique specialty in medicine that allows me to use my creativity to produce a beautiful product while providing regular care for patients to promote overall health and well-being through dental healthcare.
I’ve been proud to practice general dentistry for more than 35 years in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Seattle. My long-term dental practice, IQ Dental in North Vancouver, is located in the heart of Lonsdale, and I also provide service for patients and families on the Sunshine Coast through Advantage Dental in Gibsons, BC.
Education and Continuing Education
I am committed to growing and learning for life! It keeps me young and vital and gives me joy for life that I love to share with others. Following my formal dental education at the University of British Columbia, I joined numerous professional organizations to stay up to date on the most current dental technology. My patients can be confident in the care they receive because of my passion for continuing education. I use only the most proven dental techniques and materials available, so I can do the very best for each patient, every time, and in every situation.
I place high importance on advancing my education in dentistry. I attend annual meetings and conventions in oral surgery, endodontics, CEREC®, Invisalign®, and orthodontics around the country, as well as subscribe to numerous professional publications focused on unbiased research.
Additionally, as one of the founding members of the Tucker Academy study club in Vancouver, I have been inspired by Dr. Tucker and his teaching methods. I have encouraged those around me to continue their education since 1990. An operating study club is the most challenging type of continuing education because each dentist’s operation is critiqued by mentors and peers. We discuss how they can improve their techniques and are accountable for their progress. I am also a part-time instructor and lecturer for the third- and fourth-year dental students at UBC.

About My Team
You can see it in the smiles! Each team member is highly skilled and truly enjoys what they do. Team members work together like a well-oiled machine, often multitasking to help each other so we can be more efficient for our patients. They have a unique opportunity to connect with our patients and treat each person as a member of the IQ Dental family.
Outside the Office
I grew up in North Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia, and have lived on the North Shore since 1981. My wife Nancy and I are empty nesters with a blended family. Our three adult children live and work in the lower mainland, so it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to stay connected. Nancy and I enjoy Sunday dinners and spending quality time with our growing family, outdoor activities like rollerblading, hiking, golfing, and skiing, and love to travel whenever we can.
I am also a hockey fanatic! I took up playing hockey in my 50s and have been in pursuit of my dream to become a good hockey player ever since. I can be found playing in three different men’s leagues around the area. Learn more about me on Google+.
